In mid-2008 Apisphere announced the acquisition of San Francisco-based Navit Innovations. The acquisition enables Apisphere to leverage Navit Innovations’ extensive global positioning system (GPS) technology and industry experience to enhance the scope and reach of the location-smart mobility solutions it is offering its customers.

On May 11th, Apisphere introduced a new entry into the fast growing consumer GPS space called the Geomate.jr.  The product breaks several technology barriers, and provides an affordable out-of-box offering for the Geocaching market. The product will make the existing sport of Geocaching – a nation-wide outdoor treasure hunting game – accessible to everyone allowing kids and families to "get in on the geocaching fun".
